Are You Prepared to Defend Against Ransomware?

Written by Sarena O'Donnell | Oct 28, 2022 3:37:02 PM

One of the most telling statistics from this year’s Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) is that Ransomware remains a serious threat to all industries, with a one-year rise in occurrence as high as the past five combined. Ransomware has become so widespread and commonplace that a normal attack garners neither the shock of security professionals nor the attention of the media, while attacks on larger and increasingly critical or sensitive institutions make headlines nearly every week.

This speaks to the critical need for businesses to take a proactive approach to cybersecurity in order to be positioned for early detection and fast response.

All Organizations Are at Risk

The DBIR sheds light on the fact that increasingly every industry is at risk.  Businesses don’t have to be large, or holders of a significant amount of personal or customer information and financial resources to be targeted.  Unfortunately, even small businesses remain prime targets.

The traditional strategy of firewalls, antivirus software and applying security patches is no longer enough to protect your organization against today’s threats.

How Ingalls Information Security Can Help

Ingalls Information Security understands the Ransomware threat. Since 2010, we’ve been in war rooms and boardrooms, investigating computer networks targeted and attacked by criminals and nation-state sponsored hackers. This experience gives us a powerful edge in preventing and responding to cyberattacks.

Ransomware incidents require a careful approach that includes immediate containment. Often the victim had advanced malware protection software that wasn't fully deployed, unprotected hosts that were used to access file shares on protected hosts, unprotected remote access software exposed to the Internet and files that got encrypted despite existing an anti-malware solution.

We are able to identify and resolve these issues so that the victim doesn't suffer a follow-on ransomware attack.  We quickly restore business operations and reduce the risk and financial cost to organizations.

Managed Detection and Response (MDR)

To help fight Ransomware, Ingalls’ offers Managed Detection and Response (MDR), our MDR offers advanced anomaly detection, threat hunting and sophisticated response guidance utilizing a defense-in-depth approach.

Unlike a traditional Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP), Ingalls’ MDR service is geared toward proactive prevention. We do this by utilizing the very latest in cloud, big data analytics, and machine learning along with the cybersecurity industry’s leading incident response team, to identify threats to your environment and to provide the highest fidelity of monitoring, alerting and response possible.  With our MDR, we:

  • Utilize machine learning for the detection of anomalous activity
  • Leverage up-to-date threat intelligence with event data
  • Provide continuous monitoring and alert curation
  • Have a human-in-the-loop process with 20 hours of compromised assessment per incident
  • Share meaningful and actionable alerting with context and remediation information

If you are a business owner or executive of a Louisiana-based or operated business, we are offering the lowest possible price for our cybersecurity solution until the end of August. This is in response to the recent ransomware attacks against the Louisiana State education systems.
